You may remember us as Periódico ÍNTAG, and some of you worked with us during the newspaper’s eleven years of life to make it possible to produce 75 editions of the paper. The last edition of Periódico Íntag came out three years ago, at which time we transitioned into producing radio programs. Radio is more flexible than print media, more cost-effective, and allows us to reach people in the most isolated corners of Íntag. We started with a two-hour weekly Radio Revista and a half-hour radio program made by and for children from ages five to twelve. We continued with special reports and current events in Intag al Instante, which will begin its second season in January 2016. A full archive of all of our programs is available at https://www.mixcloud.com/IntagTheRadioRevista/

Another project is our life histories program. It was inspired by four phenomena: The migration of youth to pursue work in the cities; the mining threat; the construction of the highway through Íntag; and the arrival of retired westerners who want to set up homes in the region. As a result of these factors, Íntag is experiencing change at an alarming rate. Before the traditional way of life disappears, we want to document it through a series of interviews with older residents of Íntag who can share their experiences and their knowledge, and allow us to understand a little more about how life was lived in Íntag. We have already published the life story of Don César Pavón, and three more life histories are in the advanced stages of production: The interviews have been completed, and we are finishing the transcriptions that will be transformed into books which we hope to print in the coming year.

We continue to host a wide variety of free extracurricular activities for children and young adults including cooking and art classes, music workshops, and weekly educational activities in the ludoteca. When the students have longer breaks we host camps that have included field trips to museums, puppet shows, and an extremely popular hike in Junin.

A donation amount of €120.00 was requested for the following needs:

  • Holiday program: swimming and cooking lessons €25.00
  • Materials for the "ludoteca" - education and play €95.00
