NEWS FLASH PROGRAM “ÍNTAG AL INSTANTE”

The Casa Palabra y Pueblo has been offering Radio Íntag listeners two news brief programs per week since January 13. The program, “Íntag al Instante” (Íntag up to the minute) is a series of 10-minute news flashes, transmitted on Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 in the afternoon. The content is related to current events of interest to Íntag´s radio audience.  The programs are based on interviews and information gathered from other news sources. The team that puts together the news flashes includes Mónica Lara, in charge of interviews in the field, and Carolina Carrión and José Rivera who put together the scripts, records the pertinent bits and edit each news flash. Up to know, the following topics have been covered:

·         the position of Jómar Cevallos, mayor of Cotacachi County, on mining;

·         the possibility of a referendum on mining in Íntag;

·         Marcia Ramírez and Lauro Lucero’s trip to Chile where they visited mining sites and heard testimonies from mining company employees and residents of communities affected by the affectivity;

·         comments by William Sacher, an expert on the subject of mining and its impacts, on the Ministry of the Environment´s approval of the mining permit for the Llurimagua (formerly Junín) concession in Íntag.
