Dear SALEM Ecuador friends,

Thanks to you, we could make the lives of many people in Ecuador during the COVID crisis a little better.

  • Food aid was distributed to more than 400 vulnerable families of the Mindo community in times of lockdown.
  • More than 50 families have been participating in our family garden initiative, receiving seeds, plants and advise to grow food in their home gardens.
  • 10 women who suffered domestic violence could be given a temporal home in SALEM and were offered therapeutic and organizational support if needed.
  • Since September 2020 we have been able to keep our remedial education centre open for small groups of children from vulnerable and underserved families, following a strict hygene protocol. At the moment, we are serving up to 70 children per week in our day care centre, while schools are still closed all over Ecuador.
In 2021 we strive to intensify our commitment to support more women and children who suffered violence and abuse. We already have a great team of psychologist and social worker who offer council for five victims of violence at the moment. The demand is much higher and we need help financing this project:

We are looking forward to staying in contact in 2021.

Warm regards,
Jonas
Keep up the good work!
