Afrika Rise supports Beacon of Hope Unganda (BoHU) - a youth led non-profit organization established in Uganda in 2006 with a vision of helping to those least able to help themselves. They conduct programmes supporting quality education in targeted under-resourced communities with a focus on children and youth. BoHU operates on a non-political, non-denominational, and non-sectarian basis, welcoming every Ugandan in need.
In rural areas in Uganda there are still many children without access to quality education. This is due to lack of facilities at available schools, long distances, and lack of teachers, overcrowded classes and classrooms that are in disrepair. The project aims to establish a village school in Kasala, Kyampisi Subcounty - Mukono District to give its orphans, abused children and children from very poor families a better chance in life, through the establishment of a literacy program. Special attention will be given to girls as unskilled girls are more vulnerable than boys.
