There’s a civil war raging in Syria since 2011 - it is the worst humanitarian crisis since the end of World War II. According to “Aktion Deutschland Hilft” - an alliance of German aid organisations - there are 18,3 million people dependent on humanitarian aid in and around Syria. Six years of war and flight mean seeking protection from bombs, cold and hunger. A functioning supply with relief through food, warming clothing and fuel oil on site is still essential for survival.
Moreover it is absolutely necessary to secure medical care and improve water, sanitary and hygiene conditions to avoid diseases. Syrian children are particularly affected as war means the loss of their childhood. More and more children need to work to support their families. To give these children a chance on a hopeful future, it is important to provide more stability in their lives through psychosocial assistance and school teaching.
