South Coast Hospice Association

managed by S. Podmore

About us

South Coast Hospice, a non-profit organisation, is committed to serving our local communities by providing specialised palliative care for patients with HIV/AIDS, Cancer, & Motor Neuron Disease, as well as their families. Care is given in the patient's own home, backed up by our in-patient unit and local health facilities. We are committed to the training & development of our staff/volunteers, other health carers & the community. The diagnosis of terminal illness is extremely traumatic; SCH offers support, hope and comfort to those individuals who find themselves in this situation. We provide counselling and assistance at home and do everything possible to ease the burdens which are placed on the patient & the family. All SCH’s intensive programmes are rendered free of charge, the only exception being when a patient is a member of a medical aid with benefits still available. Our programmes are: 'Kingfisher House', our 8-bed in-patient unit. Integrated Community-based Home Care - this programme was developed in response to the growing needs of people living with HIV/AIDS. Urban Home Care is available to patients with severe progressive diseases. The urban interdisciplinary team providing holistic palliative care to patients in their homes is made up of professional nurses, psychosocial counsellors, social workers & dedicated volunteers. The Training Division provides learners undertaking training with a nationally recognized certificate. The Memory Box Project has been part of SCH’s programme since 2000, targeting children infected & affected by HIV/AIDS.

Donations that cannot be used for the project

  betterplace-Team  25 August 2016 at 04:43 PM

Dear donors,

when managers of a project haven't requested a payout over the course of a longer period, the German law and our terms of use provide that we (gut.org gemeinnützige AG, operator of betterplace.org) use the money for our tax-deductible purposes. The same applies to the cancellation of a project, where the manager of the project is unable to realize it.

Therefore we will use these donations for the following purposes:

Thanks for your support,
