Action for Children in Conflict (AfCiC) is a UK-based charity working in Kenya. AfCiC works to transform the lives of children affected by extreme poverty, hunger, illness, persecution, abuse, and neglect. Our programmes focus on helping some of the most vulnerable children and young people in Thika District, Kenya. The children and families we work with come from backgrounds of abject poverty, family breakdown, abandonment, and abuse. They are often forced to live on the streets, working and begging, in conflict with other youths, local residents and the police. Some resort to crime as a means of finding food and money; many resort to substance abuse as a means of escaping cold, hunger and pain. We know that these children have the capacity and desire to transform their lives, and it is our goal to help them in this mission.
