Südafrika-Hilfe e.V. was founded in 1985 in Ratingen near Düsseldorf on the initiative of the Catholic priest Rev. Lewis Balink, who was active in South Africa. Südafrika-Hilfe e.V. (SAH), together with the South African branch organization Lewis Balink Foundation (LBF), supports various partner organizations and their projects in Parys/Tumahole, Free State, South Africa, in addition to its own projects. The focus of SAH/LBF's project support is on education and health.
The following projects are currently being supported:
- Lehlohonolo Day Care Centre: Day care for orphans and disadvantaged children.
- TSHAD (Tumahole Self help Association for Disabled): Day care and school for children and young people with disabilities
- Tokoloho Foundation: care and medication for patients with chronic diseases, including HIV/tuberculosis
- Educational support through scholarships and youth education work in cooperation with the Parys Museum
