Enat Ethiopia is a nonprofit organization that strives to increase community resiliency, environmental protection, and intergenerational education in the rural Choke Mountains of Ethiopia. In Amharic, the official language of the country, Enat means „mother“, adviser and supporter on the way to an independent life. Founded by a small group of young people passionate about affecting change, we are able to implement diverse projects on a basis of strong relationships within the local farming communities.
Mulu Eco Village, located immediately within a highland community, acts both as the home of our founding members, as well as the physical site that facilitates social outreach and the development projects of Enat. Endeavors include supporting education in the community through the building of a primary school, introducing renewable energy technologies such as solar lights, and implementing sustainable farming techniques, in part by sharing resources such as new seeds.
