Charity Centre for Children and Youth Development has established a school for orphans and vulnerable children Called Fortune School of Excellence.
We are looking for volunteers to help teach the following the following subjects:
3. Integrated Science
4. Creative Technology Studies
5. Religious Education
6. Sports development
7. Social studies
Currently, we have an enrollment of 350 pupils from Grade one to Seven and we are intend to introduce grade eight at the school. The majority of the pupils are orphans and vulnerable within the Community in Solwezi District of Zambia.
Our academic Calendar in Zambia starts from January to April (Term one), May to August (Term two) and September - December (Term three).
Besides the the academic programs that the organization offers, we also offer Educational support and food supplement to Orphans and Vulnerable children (OVC)
Provision of educational assistance such as uniforms, jerseys and shoes aims at supplementing the efforts of parents and guardians to meet the needs of the children for them to remain in school and contribute to the nation’s economy if they graduate. Education support is considered to be one of the priorities for the support of OVCs identified by the organization. So far, the organization has provided support to over 900 orphans and vulnerable children since 2011.
Establishment of Fortune School of Excellence
The organization in 2017 established the school in order to provide primary education and skills training to orphans and vulnerable children. We received the first support for the construction of 1x2 classroom block from the Edinburgh Global Partnerships (EGP) raised by 6 volunteers from United Kingdome. In 2018, we received the second support from the Australian Embassy to construct additional 1x4 classroom block. So far, we have enrolled a total of 350 pupils
