An interesting fact for you to know is that caning with a stick is a common punishment in Ghanaian schools and we are proud to say that in arrangement with the school we were able to ban this procedure from our ICT classes.
After school hours your work will continue with the students who choose to attend the After-School- Program.
The range of the material to be taught often stretches from basic keyboard knowledge and typing lessons, opening applications on the computer and using Microsoft Office programs to the use of the internet and basic/advanced computer programming.
You are required to be highly adaptable and able to evaluate the students and their needs to gradually improve their skills and knowledge and in some cases even guide them depending on their interests, as you should not only impart your knowledge and your interests. You will even use your knowledge to assist them to reach their goals and dreams in life to the best possible extent.
WHY BECOME A VOLUNTEER FOR IT FOR CHILDREN?
It is a great opportunity for you and the local students to learn from each other both culturally and linguistically.
You will have the opportunity to make a real impact in an African developing country. This inludes your own personal development, the development of the students and of course the development of us as an organization
You will be able to affect our organization’s activities on-site.Your flexibility, ambition and creativity will be something that the organization will be able to learn from as well.
We as an organization do not use volunteers as a source of funding. Instead, as mentioned earlier, we want your help to make an educational change for the children.
Through our local volunteer coordinator, you will be able to meet locals and integrate yourself quickly into the Ghanaian society. We will assist you with every practical matter which may arise,, as well as provide you with a person to guide you to the places you would like to visit.
