Abstinence Kenya; A non governmental organization based in Nairobi-Kenya, intends to put up a computer lab/ICT project dubbed “I-school” within its resource centre in eastleigh, a noble course set to transform the lives of many young people in the area especially the refugees of Somali origin and from other neighboring informal settlements in order to bridge the digital divide in the socio-economic environment, those with fairly modern technology who wish to upgrade or learn maintenance for the same, from High Schools, Organized Youth groups, Community Based organizations as well as private or individuals.
Again as part of our vision to empower the youth who are behind the ICT revolution in Eastleigh, We will offer packages and Multimedia skills through an intensive activity based curriculum developed and prepared by our experienced professional trainers.
We received 30 computers donated to us by (a Uk based charity organization) . Our next hurdle is raising money for renovating our resource centre to accommodate these computers for classes; this includes constructing of a mezzanine floor in our already existing resource centre, shelves, installation of electricity sockets and adaptors, and purchase of 35 plastic seats for students. Attached is the flouted budget for the above mentioned items.
The project will not only offer skills but will also create job opportunities for this youths and prepare them to compete for other available job opportunities outside there. This will also engage them in proper value based lifestyles and independent thinking in this era of development, posterity and independent thinking that will inspire the generations to come.
Your heartfelt donation is highly appreciated.
