es schockiert uns immer wieder aufs Neue, wie unverantwortlich manche Menschen mit ihren eigenen Tieren umgehen, aber zum Glück gibt es eben auch wieder einige von diesen Menschen, die nicht tatenlos zusehen, sondern 1. Hilfe leisten.

Gerade aktuell ist der Fall eingetreten, dass  jemand sich an uns gewendet hat, weil er Hilfe für eine kleine Siamkatzen-Mix-Familie sucht. Sein Nachbar, der die Insel plötzlich verlassen hat, hat die komplette Familie bei ihm auf der Terrasse "entsorgt"...

Nun ist es leider so, dass der Mann, bei denen die Katzeneltern und auch die 4 Kitten gelandet sind, eine schwere Katzenallergie hat, deshalb ist es ihm nur möglich, sie auf seiner eigenen Terrasse zu lassen. Dies ist natürlich generell keine langfristige Lösung.... Die weißen Katzen können nicht dauerhaft auf der Terrasse leben, da es zu heiß und zu gefährlich ist, denn es ist im 3. Stockwerk. Es wird nicht lange dauern, da werden die Kleinen hin und her klettern und dann ist es da oben zu riskant für sie.

Aber das Wichtigste ist, dass der Besitzer der Terrasse durch seine Allergie nicht in der Lage ist, den Katzen körperlich nah zu kommen. Er würde sich der Gefahr von schweren Asthmaanfällen aussetzen. Gerade jetzt, in den erste Wochen müssen die Kitten an den Menschen gewöhnt werden, sonst besteht die Gefahr, dass sie immer scheu bleiben und keine richtige Bindung zu Menschen aufbauen. Die Elternkatzen sind ja bereits an den Menschen gewöhnt, aber die Kitten müssen nun schleunigst in gute "Menschenhände", damit sie später gut weiter vermittelt werden können und den Menschenkontakt also wohltuend empfinden.

Und die Babys.....






Leider hat es etwas gedauert, bis wir von uns hören lassen, aber dafür gibt es um so mehr zu berichten.
Wie wir Euch ja in den letzten News berichteten, hatten wir neben den Kastrationsprojekten sehr viel damit zu tun, Flugpaten für unsere schon sooooo lang vermittelten Fellnasen zu finden. Denn der Corona-Lockdown hatte uns lange extrem in unseren Möglichkeiten eingeschränkt. Und leider scheint es jetzt wieder in die Richtung zu gehen... doch erstmal zu den weiteren Neuigkeiten:

Es war nicht einfach und wir waren oft verzweifelt, weil es nicht vorwärts ging, aber inzwischen sind alle vermittelten Hunde zu ihren neuen, tollen Familien gereist. Ein Schatz wurde sogar persönlich von seiner neuen Hundemama von der Insel abgeholt. Erinnert Ihr euch an das 50-kg-Baby Arthos, der u.a. eine große Zahnbehandlung vor sich hatte? Heute heißt er Magnus und seine Adoptantin flog nur für ihn nach Fuerteventura, weil sie nicht länger auf ihn warten wollte.

Cookie, Mocca und Kiko sind auch angekommen und können jetzt im Grünen toben mit anderen Hunden und sie werden von ihren neuen Familien bedingungslos geliebt.

Und was uns besonders freut: die kleinen Welpen, die viel zu früh von ihrer Mutter weg mussten, weil sie unerwünscht waren...



... also: Unica und Mojito, sind auch schon in Deutschland bei ihren neuen Familien angekommen.



Die kleine Unica ist nicht mehr ganz so klein, aber noch ein süßes Hundekind. Sie heißt nun Malia und hat eine tolle Familie mit vielen Hundekumpels gefunden und darf nun ein tolles Hundeleben führen, toben, buddeln und kuscheln. Und das ein Leben lang.



Mojito war kaum in seinem neuen Zuhause, da durfte er schon mit in den Urlaub. Er hat nun auch ein wunderbares Leben vor sich und wird endlich so geliebt, wie er es verdient hat.



Und Naka, der Hund aus der Perrera, der große Probleme mit seinem Kniegelenk hat, darf sich nun in einer tollen Pflegefamilie von seinen bisherigen Strapazen und Schmerzen erholen. Er wird medizinisch betreut und schon bald operiert und danach natürlich noch physiotherapeutisch betreut. Ein großer Teil des Geldes ist schon bereit, aber so eine Operation inkl. radiologischer Untersuchungen, ist eine sehr kostspielige Sache. Weshalb noch etwas fehlt.

Doch am wichtigsten ist zunächst, dass er eine Pflegefamilie gefunden hat, die diese Verantwortung auf sich nimmt, als gäbe es nichts Selbstverständlicheres. Sie wird Naka in ein schmerzfreies Leben begleiten und betreuen, bis er dann bereit ist für seine endgültige Familie, wo er für immer bleiben darf.

Unser großer Dank gilt auch diesen Menschen, die sich zeitweise bereit erklären, Tiere aufzunehmen bis sie eine Endstelle gefunden haben. Bei Hunden, wie Naka ist es wichtig, dass diese Menschen bereit sind, viel Zeit und Geduld zu opfern.

Pflegestellen sind ein sehr wichtiges Puzzleteil für unsere Tierschutzarbeit.
Junge Welpen oder Katzenkitten müssen alt genug für die Vermittlung sein und vor allem wichtige Impfungen erhalten haben, um z.B. nach Deutschland zu fliegen. Die Adoption von Jungtieren ist daher frühestens mit 4 Monaten möglich, da sie u.a. einen Tollwutschutz brauchen.

Bei Katzen, die vermittelt werden sollen, ist es besonders wichtig, dass sie frühzeitig an den Menschen gewöhnt werden, sonst bleiben sie in der Regel ein Leben lang scheu.

Ihr habt ja bereits mitbekommen, dass wir uns schon mehrfach für weiße Katzen eingesetzt haben. Ihr Schicksal auf Fuerteventura ist besonders hart, da sie durch die starke Sonneneinstrahlung einer erhöhten Gefahr ausgesetzt sind Hautkrebs zu bekommen.

Ihr seht, hier auf der Insel gibt es immer was zu tun, auch wenn manche im Moment den Eindruck haben, alles steht still aufgrund von COVID. Natürlich werden weiter Tiere ausgesetzt oder geboren und sind in Not, vielleicht sogar zur Zeit noch mehr als sonst. Denn viele Menschen kommen durch die Krise in Existenznöte und da wird es auch oft schwierig, noch seine Haustiere zu ernähren, wenn man selber kaum weiß, wie es weiter gehen soll....

Good News and new challenges are waiting for us....

It always shocks us how irresponsible some people treat their own animals, but luckily there are also some of these people who do not just stand by and give help. 

Just recently, the case has occurred that someone has turned to us because he is looking for help for a small Siamese cat mix family. His neighbor, who suddenly left the island, "dumped" the entire family on his terrace ...


Unfortunately, the man with whom the cat parents and also the 4 kittens ended up has a severe cat allergy, so it is only possible for him to leave them on his own terrace. Of course, this is generally not a long-term solution ... The white cats cannot live permanently on the terrace because it is too hot and too dangerous because it is on the 3rd floor. It won't take long for the little ones to climb back and forth and then it's too risky for them up there.

But the most important thing is that the owner of the terrace due to his allergy is unable to get physically close to the cats. He would put himself at risk of severe asthma attacks. Right now, in the first few weeks, the kittens have to get used to people, otherwise there is a risk that they will always remain shy and fail to develop a real bond with people. The parent cats are already used to humans, but the kittens now have to get into good "human hands" as quickly as possible, so that they can be passed on later so that the human contact will be pleasant for them.

Unfortunately it took a while before we heard from us, but there is even more to report. As we reported to you in the last news, in addition to the castration projects, we had a lot to do with finding flight sponsors for our fur-noses that had been placed for sooooo long. Because the corona lockdown had extremely limited our options for a long time. And unfortunately it now seems to be going in the same direction again ... but first to the news:

It wasn't easy and we were often desperate because there was no progress, but now all of the dogs we placed have traveled to their new great families. One of our treasures was even picked up from the island personally by his new dog mother. Do you remember the 50 kg baby Arthos who, among other things, had a major dental treatment? Today his name is Magnus and his adoptive wife flew to Fuerteventura just for him because she didn't want to wait for him any longer.

Cookie, Mocca and Kiko have also arrived and can now romp in the green with other dogs and they are unconditionally loved by their new families. 

And what we're particularly happy about: the little puppies who had to leave their mother far too early because they weren't wanted ...



.. so: Unica and Mojito have already arrived in Germany with their new families.



Little Unica is no longer that small, but still a cute dog child. Her name is now Malia and has found a great family with many dog ​​buddies and can now have a great dog life, romp, dig and cuddle. And that for a lifetime.



Mojito was hardly in his new home when he was allowed to go on vacation. He now has a wonderful life ahead of him and is finally loved the way he deserves it.



And Naka, the dog from the perrera, who has major problems with his knee joint, is now allowed to recover from his previous exertions and pain in a great foster family. He will receive medical care and will soon be operated on and, of course, will receive physiotherapy afterwards. A large part of the money is already reached, but such an operation, including radiological examinations, is a very expensive thing. Why something is still missing.

But first of all, the most important thing is that he has found a foster family who accepts this responsibility as if there were nothing more natural. She will accompany and care for Naka in a pain-free life until he is then ready for his final family, where he can stay forever.

Our big thanks also go to these people who take care for  animals for the while until they have found a forever home. With dogs like Naka, it is important that these people are willing to sacrifice a lot of time and patience.

Foster homes are a very important piece of the puzzle for our animal welfare work. Young puppies or kittens must be old enough to be placed and, above all, have received important vaccinations, e.g. to fly to Germany. The adoption of young animals is therefore possible at the earliest at 4 months, as need a rabies protection.

For cats that are to be taught, it is particularly important that they get used to humans at an early stage, otherwise they usually remain shy for life. You have already noticed that we have campaigned for white cats several times. Their fate on Fuerteventura is particularly hard, as the strong sunlight exposes them to an increased risk of developing skin cancer.

You see, there is always something to do here on the island, even if at the 
moment some have the impression that everything is at a standstill due to COVID. Of course, animals are still being abandoned or born and are in need, maybe even more than usual at the moment. Because the crisis has caused many people to exist and it is often difficult to feed their pets if you hardly know yourself how to go on ...
