I received a payout of €3,062.93

Thank you everybody for your support! The time after tropical storm Nate was quite tough and we were living in mud and without electricity for a while. We had to pull water out of polluted wells by hand and to disinfect the water to use it for cleaning. Drinking water had to be driven in the area from far away. Roads were just accessible by 4x4 or even ox cars for weeks. Everybody was affected. Together with other foreigners we formed a group to organize the help. We were responsible for the schools to offer the children somewhat like normality as soon and as much as possible. Our own school the Tola International School lost all their new books, games and material  that had just been bought  before. Just a few things made of plastic could be safed. Good books and school material are a rare find in Nicaragua but with help of some friends in the USA we could replace most of it. With a delay of just a week we could open the school and could offer some space for kids of the neighborhood whose parents will still busy rebuilding, cleaning.
The public schools needed help, too. Their wells were polluted, the latrines damaged, fences that keep wild animals out of the school yard and school material like books all kind of paper were washed away. One preschool called Remate lost their entire interior. The kids lost their books and exercise books and pencils at home. Schooling seemed to be impossible when it was most needed to provide a safe place for the children. All affected schools in our area received an emergency pack with all kind of paper, pencils, sharpeners etc.. For the preschool Remate we had tables and chairs made. Another school called Barrio Nuevo received a new closet. This school and the remote schools that are connected to it will receive sports material like balls etc so sport lessons will be possible again. The Secondary School of San Ignacio received a new printer and will receive further help with the fences and the latrines. Same in Limon #1. At the first weeks drinking water, food and all kinds of essentials of daily life were a rare find. For the most affected families we bought clothing and provided an emergency pack with food, soap and other essentials to survive. It seems we are more or less back to normal now but we are still busy organizing and rebuilding. Like I mentioned before the latrines and the fences still need to be rebuild.
