Successful start on betterplace

Almost immediately after the project about refurbishing Riziki's guest house was put on betterplace, the first advocates turned up and gave their opinion. These advocates all have been to Zanzibar already, in particular in the village Pwani Mchangani on the east coast. It is this village where the women's cooperative is running a guest house for almost 12 years, giving about 40 women their own income. Otherwise there are few possibilities to get an income in Pwani Mchangani: the soil is not fertile, thus often the women are forced to grow seaweed, an activity associated with health risks for abdomen and eyes. At the last Bazaar of Solidarity of the Berlin Journalist Association, Twende Pamoja also raised awareness for the Riziki's guesthouse. There, 703 Euro were donated which are now used to connect the guest house to the village power line. These are the first steps to aid the women in getting a sustainable income for the next years. At this point I want to express words of thanks to all those who have supported the project already by donations and advocacy.
