AWMD-Association for the Welfare Of The Mentally Disabled is a Charitable organization started in 1988-89 at Mysore-Karnataka as a registered Trust -Reg No-------- The Organization has Income Tax exemption number and also FCRA Registration Number. AWMD is also the recipient of the Karnataka State Award in 2015 for its excellence of service for children with mental disabilities.

Project Goal is to provide Education and Rehabilitation of children with mental disabilities & their families.

AWMD responds to the serious lack of services for special children with mental disabilities and their families from the economically poorer communities in Mysore District through its Early Intervention program and activities for children 0-15 years old.

AWMD emphasis is on training the mothers and siblings through- counseling, educational awareness, practical in-service training along with the child in self-care skills, behavioral modification, physio and speech therapy, occupational therapy.
