Worum es geht
Wir leben hier in einer Welt der westlich medizinischen Maximalversorgung. In Ländern wie Tanzania, im östlichen Afrika, haben Kinder die zu früh geboren werden kaum Überlebenschancen. Der Verein Haydom-Friends e.V. setzt sich für die verbesserte medizinische Versorgung der Kleinsten am Haydomer Krankenhaus in Tanzania, Ostafrika ein. Gemeinsam sind sie vor Ort, schulen das Personal, helfen bei der Aufklärung der Mütter und unterstützen die Frühgeborenenstation mit überlebenswichtigem Equipment.
Essentiell für das Überleben der Kleinsten bei sonst fehlenden Möglichkeiten der künstlichen Beatmung sind sogenannte CPAP-Atemhilfen, die die unreifen Lungen der Frühchen mit Hilfe einer Nasenmaske bei der Atmung unterstützen. Da solche Geräte teuer in der Anschaffung sind, möchte der Verein für 4 solcher Geräte Spenden sammeln. Ein solch spezielles CPAP-Gerät kostet circa 500 Euro in der Anschaffung und kann in diesem Setting ein Frühchen-Leben retten. Zusätzlich sammelt der Verein für spezielle Baby-Wärmeschlafsäcke die mit einer stromfreien Wärmequelle, ähnlich einem mehrfach aktivierbarem Gel-Handwärmer, eingenäht in einen doppelten Boden, die Frühgeborenen für mindestens 8 Stunden warm halten können. Ein solch spezieller Babyschlafsack kostet 150 Euro in der Anschaffung und ersetzt wirksam den teuren westeuropäischen Brutkasten.
Ich laufe 21 km, damit Haydoms Frühgeborene überleben können!
Mit Deiner Hilfe und Deiner Spende motivierst Du nicht nur mich ins Ziel zu gelangen, sondern Du unterstützt den Verein Haydom-Friends e.V. bei der Anschaffung überlebenswichtiger CPAP Geräte und der Bereitstellung der speziellen Baby-Wärmeschlafsäcke für Die Frühgeborenenstation.
Das Haydomer Krankenhaus liegt auf 1700 Höhenmeter. Ich werde also ordentlich ins Schwitzen geraten und der Puls wird mindestens ebenso in die Höhe klettern wie hoffentlich Eure Spendenbereitschaft.
Also lasst mal sehen ob mich Eure Unterstützung bis ins Ziel bringt, und ich hoffe sehr Leute, ihr lasst mich nicht auf halber Strecke im roten tanzanianischen Sand liegen. Lasst uns gemeinsam etwas Grossartiges bewirken. Grosse Schritte für kleine Frühgeborenenfüßchen, die mit Eurer Hilfe später das Laufen lernen werden.

I run, you donate - big steps for tiny feet - together for Premature Babies in Tanzania !
One in 10 newborns is born prematurely. Not every premature baby has the same medical options it needs to survive. Even the lack of efficient thermal management or the lack of breathing aids often leads to the death of the smallest babies due to their often immature lungs.
We live here in a world of western medical maximum care. In countries like Tanzania, in eastern Africa, children who are born prematurely have hardly any chance of survival. The association Haydom-Friends e.V. is committed to improving medical care for the smallest children at Haydom Hospital in Tanzania, East Africa. Together they are on site, train the staff, help educate the mothers and support the premature infant ward with equipment essential for survival.
CPAP breathing aids, which support the immature lungs of premature babies with the help of a nasal mask, are essential for the survival of the smallest babies in the absence of artificial respiration. Since such devices are expensive to purchase, the association would like to collect donations for 4 such devices. Such a special CPAP device costs about 500 Euros to purchase and can save a premature baby's life in this setting. In addition, the association is collecting donations for special baby warming sleeping bags that can keep premature babies warm for at least 8 hours with an electricity-free heat source, similar to a gel hand warmer that can be activated several times, sewn into a double bottom. Such a special baby sleeping bag costs 150 euros to purchase and effectively replaces the expensive Western European incubator.
I run 21 km so that Haydom's premature babies can survive!
With your help and your donation you will not only motivate me to reach the finish line, but you will also support the Haydom-Friends e.V. association in the purchase of CPAP equipment that is essential for survival and the provision of the special baby warming sleeping bags for The Premature Baby Ward.
Haydom Hospital is located at 1700 meters above sea level. So I will be sweating and my pulse will be at least as high as hopefully your willingness to donate.

Mission erfüllt !! Mehr als 300 Läufer fanden sich am Samstag noch im Dunkeln um 6 Uhr morgens 27.05. auf dem Rollfeld in Haydom für den Kliniksmarathon zusammen. Mit dem Startschuss um 6.30 Uhr rannten wir gemeinsam der aufgehenden Sonne entgegen. Die Strecke brachte mich erst durch das Dorf dann durch herrlichste rotstaubige Landschaft, vorbei and kleinen Lehmhütten, jubelnden Kindern und Menschen am Wegesrand die uns manchmal auch ein paar Meter rennend begleiteten, Akazienbäumen und Sonnenblumen die sich in den stahlblauen Himmel reckten. Der Puls erreichte auf den 1700 m schnell sein Maximum von 140/min und die Luft wurde anfänglich auf den leichten Anhöhen und Anstiegen schon recht dünn. Die ersten 10 km gingen noch recht locker und ich genoss die herrliche Landschaft und den kühlenden Wind auf der Haut. Ab Kilometer 15 wurde es dann echt anstrengend. Den Streckenposten war ab Kilometer 10 das Wasser ausgegangen und so gab es nur noch Kola und ab Kilometer 14 dann gar nix mehr. In unserem kleinen 3 er Gespann was wir gebildet hatten kämpften wir uns tapfer die letzten 5 Kilometer bergauf, kämpften gegen Gegenwind, Staub und die uns auf der Strasse entgegenkommenden Laster, die dicht an uns vorbeibretterten. Dennoch blieben wir nicht stehen, getrieben von einem einzigen Gedanken, " Wir werden das schaffen!! " Für viele Patienten und vor allem die kleinsten Patienten in Haydom ist der Weg in die Klinik und auch der Weg ihres Leidens oft sehr staubig und anstrengend, für all diejenigen sind wir heute gelaufen und haben ihre Anstrengung geteilt um sie zu unterstützen.
Nach 2hr und 10min trugen mich meine Füsse über die Ziellinie begleitet vom Jubel und Klatschen der Zuschauer. Ich kann Euch nicht genug für all Euren Support, Eure motivierenden Worte danken, die mich über diese 21km begleitet haben. Gemeinsam sind wir weit über unser Ziel hinausgelangt für Haydoms Frühgeborene!!!
Im Afrikanischen gibt es ein Sprichwort: "Willst Du schnell ans Ziel kommen dann geh allein, willst Du aber weit kommen dann lauft zusammen ! "

Mission accomplished !!! More than 300 runners gathered on Saturday still in the dark at 6 am 27.05 on the airstrip in Haydom for the clinic marathon. With the starting gun at 6:30 am, we ran together towards the rising sun. The route took me first through the village, then through the most beautiful red dusty landscape, past small mud huts, cheering children and people along the way who sometimes accompanied us running a few meters, acacia trees and sunflowers stretching into the steel blue sky. The pulse reached on the 1700 m fast its maximum of 140/min and the air became already quite thin at the beginning on the easy elevations and rises. The first 10 km went quite easily and I enjoyed the beautiful landscape and the cooling wind on my skin. From kilometer 15 it was then really exhausting. The course marshals had run out of water from kilometer 10 and so there was only cola and from kilometer 14 then nothing more. In our small team of 3 we fought bravely the last 5 kilometers uphill, fighting against headwind, dust and the trucks coming towards us on the road, which passed us closely. Nevertheless, we did not stop, driven by a single thought, " We will make it!!! " For many patients and especially the smallest patients in Haydom the way to the clinic and also the way of their suffering is often very dusty and exhausting, for all those we walked today and shared their effort to support them.
After 2hr and 10min my feet carried me over the finish line accompanied by the cheers and clapping of the spectators. I can't thank you enough for all your support, your motivating words that accompanied me through this 21km. Together we went far beyond our goal for Haydom's premature baby!!!
In African there is a saying: "If you want to reach the goal quickly then go alone, but if you want to go far then run together! "
