In less than a week the waiting is over. I've been running for a year, give or take a few months off in winter and I've probably covered 1000km in total. 4 weeks ago I ran a half-marathon in Steglitz, south-west Berlin. I destroyed my former personal best time of 2 hours 25 minutes and ran in at 1 hour 52 minutes. I won't be able to run at that pace for the full marathon for sure but it filled me with optimism that the training was working.
In the last few weeks I've been reducing my training in order to stay sharp and build energy. At the same time I've gathered lots and lots of donations, passing the arbitrary €1000 mark I originally set and setting a new goal of €1500. So thanks again to all donors that have helped me reach that amazing amount and will inspire me to finish this race.
Thanks also to my family who have been giving me all the support I need, adjusting the family schedule so I can run and rest when needed.
