Today we will speak about spreading the word about fundraising events – crucial for a successful fundraising event!

The success of a fundraising event is connected to how active the fundraiser (that would be you!) is. That means it’s entirely up to you to spread the word about your fundraising event!

Who should you tell about your fundraising event?
Start with the people around you: friends, family, colleagues. Even people you haven’t talked to in a while might be happy to hear from you and will support your fundraising event. Maybe you have a fiend who is currently travelling close by to the project which you are supporting?

How can I spread the word about my fundraising event?
In this blog post we focus on the possibilities to spread your fundraising event online. „Offline“ alternatives will be the subject of the next blog post.

iicon-facebookDo you have a Facebook account?
Put the link to your fundraising event in your status update, post it on your friends wall , send out messages, create a group and invite all your friends to join. By the way: You can also post the link on the betterplace.org Facebook page!

twitterDo you have a twitter account?
Great, then you can start spreading your fundraising event straight away. Otherwise: signing up is for free and very easy. Integrate @betterplace_org in your tweet, and all our followers can see your tweet. Don’t forget the link!

How about an E-Mail?
In an E-mail you can mention the fundraising event to your friends – that is a more personal approach. You find a suggestion for an E-Mail text under the category „spread your fundraising event“. For the daily mails you send out, attach a link to your fundraising event in the signature.

You are active in a forum, write a blog or you have your own homepage?
Maybe your fundraising event matches the topic in the forum? Then you will for sure find people who share the same thought and will support your fundraising event.
A blog is a great opportunity to tell about a lively fundraising event. If you are planning to collect donations with a marathon run, talk about your training progress and integrate the progress of your fundraising event as well.
If you have your own website, you can easily use our widget – which you also find under „spread your fundraising event“.
