A CHILD WHO PLAYS IS A CHILD WHO LIVES! This project aims to improve the psychosocial well being and education of the most vulnerable children in the refugee camps within the Palestinian Territories.
Eleven play and animation centers exist within the Palestinian Territories which will aid these children thanks to your contribution.

These play and animation center have three main objectives:
Firstly, the centers aim to create a communication network between childhood professionals on a national scale. This includes annual meetings of members to improve the network in the sector of non-formal education and psychosocial support.
Secondly, to support socio-educational projects for children and teenagers within the youth centers through psychosocial and educational support activities. This includes professional trainings given to local staff and support to local Palestinian partner developers in the West Bank and Gaza.
Finally, the organization of activities concerning children rights, within the framework of awareness-raising. These activities do include exchanges and meetings between families, teachers, childhood professionals and local actors as well as children from different communities.

The overall focus are the psychosocial needs of Palestinian refugee children and their educational and social environment.

By helping this project you help a network which affects 30.000 children living in refugee camps in Palestine.

URGENT ACTION NEEDED FOR GAZA

by J. NENO, created on 09 January 2009 at 10:26 PM

To all of our partners and supporters in France and Europe To all who can respond to this action for GAZA (and can help spread the message) The 14th day in the war against Gaza: the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip worsens daily and the entrapped civilian population continues to pay a high price. To date, civilians have comprised the majority of the 803 killed (including 300 children, 200 women, and around 10 aid workers) and more than 3300 wounded (one third of which are children). On Tuesday the occupying Israeli army committed a new crime by attacking two schools where Palestinian families were taking refuge from the conflict. A call from our local on-site coordinator, in Gaza City, informed us that there is nothing left to eat or drink for the 30 people (of which many are taking shelter in his home). It would be suicide for them to leave the area; Israel has been bombing everyone, houses, children, schools, and even ambulances with sophisticated weapons. There have been 120 tons of bombs already dropped on the people of Gaza, people who have already been living under siege for the past 6 months! Although this genocide is being watched live from our televisions, the international community has, to this day, been paralyzed and incapable of condemning these crimes against humanity and Geneva Convention violations, committed daily by the occupying army, and allowing humanitarian aid and medical supplies in for the victims of this genocide. EJE is preparing to come to the aid of the children of Gaza as soon as the fighting ends (we’re hoping in the next 7 to 10 days). We’re in need of blankets (because many children are now living on the streets after their homes have been destroyed), underwear and warm clothes for the children (because it is cold and there is currently no other protection from the cold)! Jacqueline Coulon-Lascaux, from the French Consulate in Jerusalem, is working to prepare the humanitarian shipment, obtain the necessary authorization and coordinate the aid needs of each NGO. We think that many children are at risk of dying from cold and hunger if urgent help is not immediately delivered after the attacks have ceased! We are also looking for addresses of collection points, in France and other countries, to assist with later shipments to Palestine. I am available for any additional information and I thank you for all aid that reaches Gaza as quickly as possibly. Kindest regards from Palestine, Jacques NENO
