My son Wally, 15 years old, is going to secondary school. Due to the very poor state education policy in Cameroon, I opted for him to attend private schools to give him a better education. My small daugther Ava-Joy, 3 years, is anxious to start pre-school this year. I also take care of Titende Amslem Mbanghonyui and Mbubeh Marie-Benedict, 12 and 11 years old. Amslem is my nephew, the youngest son of my late elder sister who died of AIDS in June 2007. My late sister has also taken care of her granddaughter Marie-Benedict, who lived for all her life with her grandmother. Amslem and Marie-Benedict stayed very often away from school in order to take care of their sick mother and Grandma respectively, and spent most of their time in the farm helping to grow crops for their home consumption.

Being the 7th child in a family of 9, I have so far being the main bread winner in my family, because I happened to be the most educated though with just a secondary school certificate, and I always supported my elders who all remained in the village doing farming for subsistence.

My small income had for the past eight years being the main source of support to this family and to the education of both children. Because of my job situation, their education also becomes compromising. Reason why this application on better place to help these young people to continue with their education and have hope for the future.
I very much hope that well wishers can assist the children carry on with their education and hope to become good citizens in their community tomorrow. Marie-Benedict you will find under my second project.

Dear Mary, did you ask the betterplace-team for help? With warm regards Gabriele

Dear Mary, I really would like to help you with this, but, I have no access to your project - and I don't know, how to change this... I would suggest you, that you ask Christian Illner from the betterplace-team, to help you... they can do this... but it will take some time. Or you can contact Hannelore Knott, she is also member of the betterplace-team. Or: on your personal page you go to the button "register project" (this is to be seen if you click on "more" at the right side), then you can fill in the title and the description of the new project and add the needs... How did you present the projects up to now? It is the same process... With warm regards Gabriele

Dear Mary, I would suggest, that you keep the need for Wally - as it already started here in this project, but you make new projects for Amslem and for Ava-Joy. Then - with some luck, we can get those two children on the first page (almost financed projects) - as I did it with Marie-Benedict... There the need is very present, and finds better donors - especially, if it is a smaller need. This is more attractive for the donors! With warm regards Gabriele

Dear Gabriele, thanks for the suggestion. I will then have to rewrite the new projects. But to be honest, I don't know how to present them. I can write the story and their needs but to present them as I saw that of Marie-Benedict, I will not know it. Thus can I send you the text and their photos (Ava-Joy and amslem) to help me do the publishing on the site? If you agree, I will take up time tomorrow to work on them and send them back to you. Thanks once more Mary

Dear Mary, please let me know, what is the situation now with the kids. I am happy, that we succeeded with Marie-Benedict, but what about Wally, Amslem and Anna-Joy? Do you think, it makes sense to separate the needs of the children in different projects?Probably to keep Wally at the project and open for the other two new projects? I really would like to support you more, but my financial resources are also quite modest. But I think we could make the projects more public.... With warm regards Gabriele

Dear Gabriele, I am very thankfull for the concern and the efforts you have and have been making about my project. The situation now has not changed much. The kids are however going to school and the various schools have not yet started sending out children for reason of fees. I am confident and keep my fingers crossed that I will get support before this month gets to its end when I am sure school owners will be more strict. About how the projects should be presented, I really do not know which formular is the best. Please if you think of something, just go ahead and help me do it. I could not write before now because we have been having electricity failure since Monday the 29th of September and this kept internet connections in my area out of use. It is only today that everything has been stable. Thanks sincerely Mary

My performance last year - by Wally N., erstellt am 01. Juli 2008 um 13:35 Uhr - My performance for the year 2007/2008 was just average. For the first term I had an average of 11.34 on twenty, during the second term I had an average of 12.92 on twenty meaning that I improved and during the third term I had an average of 8.56 average on 20 and this was because I was seriously sick. I had malaria during the time when we were writing so it was not that easy. So my annual average was 11.65 on 20 which means I am going to the next class which is form four. I have benefited from your donations last school year by paying it for my school fees which it has helped me to acquire good knowledge from this donations. I thank my donors who raised this sum to send me to school. I also thank them for paying the school fees of my brother Amslem Mbanyui and sister Marie-Benedict. I hope that you people are going to help us again this academic year. During my third term holidays I would like to prepare for the next academic year and also help my mother and grandmother in the house like cleaning the house, wash clothes and other family members and also take care of my junior sister, Ava-Joy Shira, like teaching her since she is preparing to go to school so that she will be well prepared and I am going to teach her so many new things. My mother Mary Nyuyinwi has sent a request for our school fees for next school year and I hope you shall help her so that she may help us. Wally
