In March 08 the Presbyterian School in Akwamufie was caught by i rainstorm and the roofing on the school was completely spoiled.
This is the only school in town and without roofing before the raining season, education in the primary and junior sec. classes have to take place below trees. The forcast of Ghana meteorological service says frequent rainstorms to come.
There are no other indoor places in the town for education of the 460 pupils. The Presbyterian Church has lost its roofing as well.

The school consists of 2 blocks with a total of 10 rooms including one room for office and store. The costs of re-roofing of one class room is Euro 1355 including all costs. My Secretary in Akwamufie has informed me that one of the queen mothers in town, Nana Abrewa Kwabea (a traditional chief on women matters) has succeeded in involving an Asian NGO, probably Japanese, in defraying most of the costs by re-roofing of the 6-rooms school buildings. The work on this building is in progress now. A closer examination of the buildings has shown that the walls need to be strengthened to be proof against future rainstorms. More craftmanship than expected has been necessary. But in total the need for funding can be reduced with another Euro 2.380.
