Das Team München für Cinema Jenin möchte die Renovierung des Kinos in Jenin (Westbank) unterstützen. Dazu veranstalten wir in München am 1.12. im Monopol, Feilitzstraße 7, eine Preview des eindrucksvollen Dokumentarfilms The Heart of Jenin, welcher gerade auf den Festivals von Valladolid, Leipzig und Warschau zahlreiche Preise gewonnen hat.

Der Film war der Ausgangspunkt für palästinensische, israelische und deutsche Kulturschaffende sich zusammen zu tun, um in Jenin eine lokale Filmindustrie anzukurbeln.

Im Anschluß gehen wir zur Galerie Sabine Knust, Ludwigstraße 7, um mit dem Regisseur Marcus Vetter und dem Protagonisten Ismael Khatib über das Projekt Cinema Jenin zu diskutieren.

Nachdem über betterplace in Berlin schon die Kosten für die Renovierung des Kinos zustande gekommen sind, möchten wir in München für die Untertitelung der ersten Filme sammeln.

    Built in the early 60's, Cinema Jenin (West Bank) was considered to be one of the largest cinemas in Palestine. Ishmael Khateeb, resident of the Jenin refugee camp, and Marcus Vetter, a German filmmaker, want to bring the old cinema back to life.
