Am 21. April 2009 um 20:00 findet im RADIALSYSTEM in Berlin die Cinema Jenin Night statt. Ziel des Abends ist es, durch den Erwerb von "Sozialaktien" gemeinsam 39.280€ für den Aufbau des alten Kinos in Jenin, Palästina, aufzubringen.

betterplace.org und die Initiatoren von "Cinema Jenin" - Ismael Khatib, Fakhri Hamad und Marcus Vetter - präsentieren das Projekt und zeigen Ausschnitte ihres Dokumentarfilms "The Heart of Jenin", der kürzlich mit dem Cinema for Peace-Award ausgezeichnet wurde.

Das Auswärtige Amt unterstützt den Aufbau des Cinema Jenin mit knapp 172.000 EUR im Rahmen der Initiative "Zukunft für Palästina" aus dem Programm Kulturerhalt.

Unter Mitwirkung von Frank-Walter Steinmeier (angefragt), Désirée Nosbusch und Carolin Emcke.

    Built in the early 60's, Cinema Jenin (West Bank) was considered to be one of the largest cinemas in Palestine. Ishmael Khateeb, resident of the Jenin refugee camp, and Marcus Vetter, a German filmmaker, want to bring the old cinema back to life.
