Since July 2012 a group of Leipzig based students is working on a noncommercial shortfilm project named "Frank".
The shortfilm is based on a short story by Jan Geiger and tells the story of Frank and Dominik. On a bus ride the twenty-somethings are challenged with their relationship due to Dominic's pending imprisonment. Frank, his partner, accompanies him on his way, trying to support him by packing a proverbial bale of memories empowering him in times of loneliness and worries. Dominik tries to take the arrest as a chance to leave the past behind.
Having a rest at a lake both rediscover their love one last time so as to be overtaken by their relationship's hopelessness and bitter reality
The shortfilm asks the question if two people are able to handle external pressure ans a love without future appropriately without smashing everything into pieces. Main topics are voyage, separation, handling of memories and setbacks as well as advocacy for individual concepts of life.
It is important to us, that homosexuality is shown as a matter of course and not constructed as a problem.

Participants of this project are a group of school children and many many helping hands who are students or alumni of The University of Leipzig. The project is non-commercial and is supported by the students council StudentInnenRat der Universität Leipzig. The premiere is planned to take place at the International Queer Film Festival Hamburg, which is the most important queer filmfestival in Germany. The shortfilm will be available for free on the internet. The sex education group SchLAu wants to use it for their work in schools.
