A silent hunger crisis is tightening its grip across West Africa. Over 18 million people are affected. We must respond fast to stop the crisis turning into a humanitarian catastrophe like the one in the Horn of Africa in 2011.
Millions of people across the Sahel region are facing a growing hunger crisis triggered by crop shortages, rising food prices and insecurity in neighbouring countries. Young children are smaller, weaker and far more vulnerable, so their chances of survival are lower - over 1 million children are at risk.
We’re on the ground, helping to save lives across Niger, Mali, Mauritania and Burkina Faso by providing children and their families with food, water and medicine - a good start, but it is not enough.
