Kenyan society includes a disproportionately large number of orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs). This demands unprecedented efforts from government, civil society and the business sector to strengthen and support communities so that they are able to meet the physical, emotional and psychosocial needs of all our children. Importantly, these efforts to mitigate this social crisis need to be sustainable into next decades, enabling the children to grow into productive adults.
This intervention is designed on the basic assumption that a child has a right to quality access to education, care and support. This intervention is modeled to compliment the responses of the governments free primary education to maintain and provide comprehensive learning aid and technical support to needy children within the community settings.
Apart from ensuring their psychosocial wellbeing, it will give hope and encouragement to children who have experienced extreme hardship, poverty, ill health and bereavement. their self confidence and concentration will grow as they supported in rebuilding their lives through better performance at school.
since 2004 Maishabora has been running intergrated early childhood education and developement center with partnership St. Francis child and family programme in affiliation with Child fund Fund kenya.in furthurence to this The education mentorship and tutorial project will be started with innitial beneficiaries being 56 children, 36 male and 20 females of ages 8-14 years.
Design: maishabora has years of intensive implementation of interventions in needy Children &child-headed households, and this project is a natural progression to developing the holistic, integrated community capacity that is required to properly nurture children into adulthood.
Capability: Maishabora has strong, committed leadership with sufficient depth and expertise to execute this project.
Control: Maishabora has strong, accountable governance and financial controls.
Sustainability: The building of library and provision of curriculum books secures the rights to quality education, information and archievement of life aspirations and pottentials; continued networking and collaboration shall be enhanced.
Major challenges will be sustainining increased demand for growing population of children in need of the service.
