A group of soloists in their own right, ensemble mini prides itself as an orchestra of individuals. Founded by akademists from the Berliner Philharmoniker with the young British conductor, Joolz Gale, it offers an opportunity for today's best young musicians to perform in the intimate setting of the mini-orchestra.
Embracing the motto ‘small is beautiful’, each project aims to focus on one particular composer or theme, reducing to the max the artistic, historical and musical relationship between the symphonic composer and ensemble. Many of these projects include newly commissioned arrangements, following the tradition of Schoenberg's Verein für musikalische Privataufführungen, Wien. The ensemble has received much critical acclaim, most recently in Auditorio Nacional Madrid and Philharmonie Berlin and featured widely on media platforms such as 3sat Kulturzeit, Deutschlandradio Kultur, WDR, RBB and DLF. Future plans include mini-Verdi and mini-Brahms @ Radialsystem V, Britten and Vivier @ Konzerthaus Berlin and recording the Panufnik Violin Concerto with violinist Tai Murray.
