For many refugee children on the Thai-Burma border, school education provides the only opportunity for a better future. Help without Frontiers therefore supports schools on both sides of the border for thousands of children.
Since 2006 the New Day School in Mae Sot offers education to refugee and migrant children from Burma. Since 2009 the school became one of the "Ray of Hope" schools and is directly supported by Help without Frontiers. Today over 500 students have the opportunity to learn for their future.
Most parents work as farmers, in factories, as maids or sell vegetables on the local markets. Often they do not have any papers and are therefore subject to arrest by the local authorities. All of them struggle to make sufficient income to support the education and health needs of their children. Help without Frontiers therefore also helps through the „Yummy! Meals for Schools“ Project, where children at the New Day School are provided with warm and nutritious meals every day.
Due to the rising number of students, the New Day school moved to a new compound in June 2011. However an additional classroom to accommodate all children is urgently needed and we only need 7,000 Euro to realize this project. Please help us and support Burmese refugee and migrant children now!
Every donation to Help with Frontiers is spent 100% on our projects - that is our donation guarantee.
