TRUTH FOR THE YOUTH
“Keep it Locked” Campaign
Being young is a time filled with excitement, new feelings, many unanswered questions, changes and difficult choices. During this time, as a young person you will have relationships with peers of the same and opposite sex. You must also learn to deal with new feelings about sexuality, physical and emotional changes, and about how to make responsible decisions about reproduction and parenthood and leadership. You will need to know the facts about your own sexuality and learn skills to help you plan for happy futures and healthy lives. Truth for the youth (T4Y) program provides young people with information and skills that will empower them to make informed choices and to abstain from the ill social norms. Despite decades of progress, too many young people are still silent victims of drugs/substance abuse, STI's/STD’s, teenage pregnancies, domestic violence, assault, abuse, discrimination and their own fears. Keep it locked campaign through the T4Y program, partnering with schools, aims to facilitate healthy behavioral changes through the empowerment of young people to make informed decisions. The T4Y program aims at reaching 4.800 young people annually.

The “keep it locked” campaign of Truth for the youth provides awareness trainings and prevention work in 16 schools around the East land part of Nairobi and also in other areas with a strong presence in disadvantaged communities.

T4Y mentors aims to facilitate healthy behavioral changes through the empowerment of young people. Especially girls, they shall become more self-confident to be able to say "no" and to resist temptations. In the framework of the T4Y program facilitators go into schools on a weekly basis and address young people in the classrooms. Through the "keep it locked “campaign, learners are encouraged to set up and run their own support groups and networks within the school.
Leadership training is provided for those who head the groups and ongoing support from Abstinence Kenya officials. T4Y is currently operating in 16 schools around the East land part of Nairobi and in areas with a strong presence in disadvantaged communities.
