SAVE THE CHILDREN is estimating that at least 100,000 children have been affected by the disasters. They lost their homes and many their relatives. Now they urgently need psychological aid and a safe place where they can play, learn and their work on their trauma.

Save the Children´s goal is to help as many children as possible. At the moment Save the Children is present in Japan with a team of 40 staff.

Our staff is now working nonstop in the disaster zone to assess children’s needs and initiate child protection programs. We are also closely monitoring the situation of the nuclear plants and are developing a contingency plan if the situation worsens.

The first of a planned network of Child-Friendly Spaces in evacuation centers was opened on March 16 in Sendai.
Supervised by Save the Children staff, it contains toys and games for children ages 5-12.

Ich habe gehört, dass Kinder nach Russland ausgeflogen werden sollen. Das finde ich absolut nicht gut. Erstens wissen viele nicht, ob ihre Eltern noch leben oder aber die Eltern suchen noch nach ihren Kindern. Und zweitens: Was ist das für eine Alternative, in einem russischen, heruntergekommenen Heim zu sitzen? Sicher sind die Kinder dann außer Gefahr, doch ich weiß aus ehrenamtlicher Tätigkeit, wie die Heime dort aussehen.
Hat denn unsere Bundesregierung nicht die Möglichkeit, Kinder nach Deutschland zu holen? Hier gibt es bestimmt viele Familien, die sich eine Zeit lang gut um diese Kinder kümmern würden - u.a. auch wir.

Bis dahin spende ich erst einmal unsere verfügbaren Punkte, damit schnell vor Ort geholfen werden kann.
