The Automotive Academy in South Africa’s Great Limpopo Transfrontier National Park was founded by Daimler Financial Services in order to offer young people in the region vocational training as car mechanics.
The academy is designed to help people to help themselves. It provides young people with the opportunity to learn a skilled profession so that they can earn a livelihood and support their families financially. In addition, it provides the South African labour market with an additional pool of urgently needed skilled workers.
The training center is located in the Great Limpopo National Park, on the premises of the Southern African Wildlife College. The park is situated in the border region between South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. The region is home to more than four million people, many of whom live in difficult conditions. Jobs are scarce and are generally only available in the mining and tourism sectors.
