The School of Comedy and Mime based in Granada, Nicaragua, has been operating successfully since 2001. The School has worked with a group of 10 individuals from under-privileged and troubled backgrounds since they were children and are the core group today.

The focus of the work has been on theatre and circus skills training although a general education has also been facilitated. The achievement of this work is apparent in the discipline, conduct and attributes of these individuals.

The School is now in a position to expand its work to larger numbers of new students, looking to build on the success of the past. The original core group of students together with volunteer artists and students from abroad will work with the school as instructors of the new students.
To continue and to expand its work the school needs to move to land it owns on the outskirts of Granada. New facilities for teaching, rehearsing and production need to be developed. 100 new students will be enrolled within the next four years. These children will not only be given instruction in theatre and in general education subjects but will also be fed on a daily basis. The school will offer them a chance of self-development where there is little else on offer. The building projects will also develop accommodation facilities for guests and volunteers. The School will also work with, and its facilities will be available to, the local community. Environmentally friendly building techniques will be employed wherever possible.

Donations are extremly important for the school project success
