"Kinshasa Symphony"-Support the Orchestra!

The "Orchestre Symphonique Kimbanguiste" was founded 15 years ago but still most of its musicians do not own their own instruments. They use the instruments provided by the orchestra, which are often in bad shape. Sometimes they even have to take turns in practicing, because there are just not enough instruments for each musician.
To keep the orchestra going and also ensure, that future generations will be able to be a part of "OSK", we want to support Armand Diangienda, the conductor and founder, in the education of his musicians and the building of a musical school in Kinshasa.

Den Plan, eine Musikschule zu gründen und somit schon Kindern das Erlernen eines Instruments zu ermöglichen, verfolgen Armand Diangienda und das Orchester schon seit geraumer Zeit.
Die Schule gäbe den fortgeschritteneren Musikerinnen und Musikern eine Möglichkeit, ihr Wissen und ihre Fertigkeiten weiter zu geben. Je bekannter das Orchester wird, desto mehr Eltern fragen, ob ihre Kinder Musikunterricht erhalten können. Nach Armands Vorstellungen, über die er mit und Filmemachern schon während der Dreharbeiten wiederholt sprach, soll die Musikschule allen Interessierten offenstehen und sich selbst tragen.
Die grösste zu überwindende Hürde besteht darin, ein geeignetes Gebäude zu finden, zu mieten oder möglichst zu kaufen. So etwas ist in Kinshasa sehr teuer. Unsere recht ambitionierten Spendenziele werden nur ausreichen, einen substanziellen Beitrag zu leisten - die gesamten Kosten werden sie nicht abdecken.

Building a musical school

The final goal is to build a music school for the orchestra and the up-coming generations, so the musicians can have a safe place to practice and meet.
