Heavy monsoon rains have caused extensive flash flooding in the north-west of Pakistan. Around 1.5 million people have been affected, and the rains are expected to worsen this week. The survivors of the floods are in urgent need of food, healthcare and shelter.
The German Red Cross provides immediate medical assistance in six basic health care units in the province of Khyber-Phaktunkhwah. In addition, the distribution of relief items such as food, hygiene parcels and kitchen sets has started. Further relief measures are being planned.
