I believe that what the organisation is doing helps a lot of destitute children and should be supported by the community. I am willing to visit the kids and spend time with them on a daily basis, share clothes that they might still be able to use.

What I would like to do is be part of the people who come in and check up on the children, bring in clothes and things I may have at my disposal but most of all I believe my time is best gift I can give the children and every one.

As a family, we have close ties with Othandweni. Our adopted youngest child was lovingly cared for at Othandweni, before he became part of our family at four months. We first held him there, when we went to Soweto with the social workers of Johannesburg Child Welfare Society responsible for the adoption on the 2nd of November 2005. We visited again in April this year to allow our son, who is now five and wants to know about his origins, to see an experience Othandweni for himself. He had a very warm welcome and the elder ladies present remembered him from the pictures we brought. This reunion made a great impression on all of us, also because I don't think the caretakers often see what has become of children they took care of after they have left the children's home. We know that any support we can help mobilise for Othandweni's Children's Home will be very well used and benefit the children who need it most.
