Since 2009 we are thinking about the water supply on the school-compound. In November 2011 the engaged drilling company hit water at a depths of 65 meters.
To use this water all over the school compound we are building a small pump-house. On top of this house we will put a 5.000 litres tank which is filled by an electrical pump from inside the borehole. The water from the tank will be spread over the compound by a system of pipes.
At the moment the teachers and the pupils are sharing the exiting latrines. That is an untenable condition which should have been changed almost one year ago. At that time the parents of the pupils started to dig a pit for the teacher's toilet.
Because of the soil characteristics on the school compound this work is much too dangerous without suitable means. Therefore the works were stopped.
Since then this about 4 meters deep pit is a big risk for the playing children.
Because of this and because the financial needs (about 3,000.00 €) are not too high we decided to make the next important step by building 3 teacher's toilets. Since we now have water on the compound we will build flush toilets and wash basins for washing hands.
This project is one step more on the way for having cleanliness, hygiene and health at the Sabrina Primary School in Pengo. As soon as we know how much material and money we need for building the teacher's toilet we can evaluate the quoatation for 15 pupil's toilets (which we already have). Then we will start the project "Toilets for the children in Pengo".
Now we ask for your support for building toilets for the teachers in Pengo.
