19 families and their severely handicapped children enjoyed a relaxed and eventful week‘s holiday in July 2010. Thus we would really love to do a project like this again this year. The children, their siblings and parents should get a chance to spend another relaxed and eventful week’s holiday on the Moehnesee (Lake Moehnesee, a popular visitor attraction) in August 2011 – without therapies, visits to the doctor, and everyday worries.
For many of the families this holiday is the first “free time“ ever spent together. Activities are offered for the whole family. However, there is also a children’s group supervised by professionals so that the parents can relax, too.
The guest house itself also offers activities for children. Thus some of the children (with or without a handicap) can take part in the guest house’s activities and trips either alone or accompanied by a parent – a welcome opportunity to integrate with others.
Depending on the composition of the group, we require 4-6 paediatric nurses for the medical and nursing attendance of the heavily care-dependent children. Moreover we require 9 further assistants responsible for pedagogical work and assistance. We depend on donations to finance these important helpers.
The holiday we are planning is the fifth of its kind, organised and conducted by the parent association “INTENSIVkinder“; 19 families can take part in it. All participants, i.e. the handicapped children, their siblings and parents, will enjoy a relaxed and eventful week’s holiday together; they will be able to recharge their batteries far away from everyday worries, and will gather new impressions they can still draw on back home
