Holiday Camps for all Children

The standard rate of social assistance that is dedicated to a child’s visit to sport and cultural events or facilities in Germany is by law 3.76 Euro a month. This is not even enough to visit a zoo or a circus. The Deutsche Kinderhilfswerk therefore supports holiday camps for children in need.

Children from difficult and deprived families have often never been to a holiday camp with other children. However these experiences are important for children. Attending a cultural event, a school trip or a holiday camp fosters the development of children, enhances their self-confidence and also provides them with strength to cope better with their difficult everyday life at home.
