Until the end of 2011 we supplemented with the help of our two foster parents and our donator the salaries of the three teachers of Bwagamoyo Nursery School, the watchmen and the cooks.
On our last visit in November 2011 we experienced that the teachers of Sabrina Primary School are no Goverment-teachers and therefore are not paid by the state Kenya. -
The supplements from Germany the school fee paid by the parents (normally the the Primary School is for free) and some small supplements from the ministry of education are good enough to give the teachers a monthly income of about 30.00 €. - This is about half the salary a teacher gets for the same workl in Kwale or Tiwi.
But the living costs are the same in Shimba Hils as on the coast!
Because it is very hard for the 6 teachers (+NN from 01/2012) and the two watchmen to provide for their families we decided to increase their income with a higher subsidy. - On parallel we are trying to force the ministry of education to keep their promise and send Government teacher to Sabrina Primary School. - Until than we want to give each teacher a supplement of 30.00 € per month and the watchmen 10.00 € per month. So the total need for one month will be 230.00 €.
As soon as the Primary teachers are paid by the government our subsidy will drop and the montly need will be 120.00 €.
We would be happy to find some foster parents for this need to ensure the monthy payments.
We ask all betterplacer for their support so that all employees in Sabrina Primary School/Bwagamoyo Nursery School get a good income for good work.
