For almost a decade, Boxgirls in Kreuzberg has offered beginner and intermediate boxing training for women and girls. By offering modern training methods in our local neighborhood, focusing on innovative media relations and achieving outreach to new target groups and communities, we have been able to positively shift the view of women's boxing in Berlin and Germany.

Our goal is to offer women and girls the chance to practice the historically male-dominated sport of amateur boxing in an integrative, non-discriminatory, female-friendly environment. Our training builds both muscles and self-confidence, giving Boxgirl participants the independence to fulfill their potential in multiple environments. Through introductory courses, regular training, and boxing demonstrations in schools, projects for girls and businesses, Boxgirls has awakened interest in the sport of boxing, and not just among women and girls. At the same time, through intensive contact with decision-makers, Boxgirls has been able to generate awareness about the challenges and problems of integration and gender-oriented requirements for women and girls in sports.

We are currently training young and young-at-heart female boxers from our neighborhood and internationally, ranging in age from 9 to 59. We use boxing as a means of empowerment against gender-related violence and discrimination, as well as as a catalyst to encourage independence and initiative among women and girls. We present workshops with the top-decision makers on topics such as the complexity of boxing, fundraising and access to social and intellectual capital. We have a successful media strategy: the establishment of boxing/self-defense for the social and professional achievement of women.
