The representatives of RAA Brandenburg and the comprehensive school Dabendorf welcomed their Zanzibarian guests.
The Zanzibarian as well as the German pupils and teachers were very pleased to meet each other again after eight months. In summer 2009 our pupils were the Zanzibarians’ guests. Now they have the chance to show Berlin and Brandenburg to them. After their arrival we went directly to the “Spreewald” where we all spent interesting days with each other. We did some exercises to get to know each other, discussions about typical German and Zanzibarian things. Songs and games made it possible to gather common experience, to become a team and to discover lots of new things.
Meanwhile the guests integrated really well in their host families. They cook and even laugh much together. The girls are extremely excited about the washing machines and are astonished at the immense extent of techniques in the household.
Their experience they send via e-mails to Uzini. Every day at school they start practicing: writing texts and sending e-mails. They also exercise to become participants at betterplace and how to work with this platform.
To continue communication and working with the platform we want to donate some money for phone cards to charge their Internet account. A card costs 5000 TSH (3 €). With that card they have the possibility to be on the Net for five hours.

    Waffelteig und Kuchenblech für Sansibar.

    Um unsere finanzielle Situation zu verbessern veranstalteten wir einen Kuchenbasar am Herrentag. Leider spielte das Wetter nicht so mit. Trotzdem verkauften wir immerhin so viel, dass 85€ zusammen kamen. Glücklicherweise fand nebenan ein Fußballspiel statt, so konnten wir einige der Spieler zum Waffelkauf überreden. Unsere Nachbarn, die durch Luftballons und Plakate auf unseren kleinen Gartenstand aufmerksam gemacht wurden, interessierten sich sehr für unser Projekt. So erfuhren Nachbarn und Spaziergänger von unseren Vorhaben auf Sansibar und kauften unsere sansibarischen Kochbücher und Gewürze. Einige spendeten auch und leisteten somit ihren Beitrag. Seitdem fragen alle nach, wann es denn endlich los geht und erkundigen sich nach unseren Fortschritten.
    Dies gibt Kraft für neue Taten,
