In 2005 I was in Nepal, Asia, where I did a 4-week trekking tour to Mount Everest Base Camp. My guide was a local man by the name of Nima Sherpa. We became close friends on the trip and I also met his family who were exceptionally kind to me. I stayed in touch with them after my return and then, 3 months ago, a very sad message reached me.
Nima Sherpa died after a bad altitude sickness. He is survived by his wife and two children. The 2 kids – his daughter Yangzee (9) and his son Ashish (12) go to an English-medium private school to ensure that they have a brighter future than their father did. But as a result of his death they can no longer afford their schooling. His widow now works at a local factory but her salary covers only the bare necessities.
My aspiration is to consolidate the future of Yangzee and Ashish. The school fees are 100 Euro per month. 1.300 Euro (1200 Euro school fee plus 100 Euro bank charges) covers a whole year.
If you have any questions just drop me a line and I will be more than happy to answer them. I will also constantly post news from the family on Betterplace as I'm in close contact with them.
Your small change can make a big difference to Nima Sherpa‘s family.
You are also more than welcome to forward this email to your friends.
Thanks for your time and interest.
Kindest regards,
Christopher
