Choki Traditional Art School (CTAS) offers students coming from poor rural areas of Bhutan (a small kingdom in the Himalayan) an education in the traditional arts&crafts (painting and woodcarving). In addition the students learn mathematics, dzongkha (the national language) and English.
As extra curricula activities we are offering music, mask dance and Chinese chess. Unfortunately we don't have a plain sport court on which we could play football or basketball and thus our possibilities for physical exercises are limited.
A basketball court would be very welcome by the students. Not only would they enjoy playing the game, they would also stay physically fit. Boys and girls could train and in addition we could use the court for playing badminton and performing our traditional dances.
Basketball is a new and exciting game for the children, promoting team spirit, leadership and respect. The recreational time would be spent wisely.
