MISSION
SSWEN is a non-profit organization with 501c3 tax status focusing on the empowerment of Sudanese women in Sudan and in the Diaspora through programs that encourage women’s rights, education, policy advocacy, and organizational development. We are committed to empowering Sudanese women to achieve economic, social, and gender justice in the civil society sector, a healthy and peaceful community and country, and human rights for all.

VISION
SSWEN seeks to alleviate some of the factors that contribute to poverty and social distress, and to increase information that leads to social inclusion and equality. We are dedicated to providing support to poor, vulnerable women in Sudan and in the Diaspora. To accomplish these goals, we provide interpersonal assistance and information to women about education and social services; organize trainings for trainers about organizational development and women’s advocacy; and raise awareness among local, national, and international leaders about the situation for Sudanese women.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
SSWEN’s Board of Directors includes Southern Sudanese women from different regions and ethnic groups in Sudan as well American advocates. These women boast a long list of organizational, nonprofit, educational, medical, and advocacy experiences, which range from nursing to anthropology, volunteering to mothering, and working for and founding other nonprofit organizations. Our Director is Ms Lilian Riziq.
