KARO e.V. ist ein Verein zur grenzüberschreitenden Sozialarbeit in der Prostitutions- und Drogenszene. Der Schwerpunkt unserer Arbeit liegt in der Bekämpfung sexueller Ausbeutung von Kindern, einer Eindämmung der Zwangsprostitution und des Frauen- und Kinderhandels. Außerdem arbeiten wir in der Prävention von Folgeproblemen wie Drogenmissbrauch und der Ausbreitung von Geschlechtskrankheiten und HIV/AIDS.

Es geht vor allem darum, die soziale Isolation und Verelendung von Randgruppen der Gesellschaft zu bekämpfen, die den Nährboden für die Prostitutions- und Drogenszene bilden. Allein bewegt man meist nur wenig. Deshalb ist eine wichtige Zielsetzung die Entwicklung von Kooperationen und Netzwerken, die gemeinsam gegen die kriminellen Strukturen vorgehen. Weiterhin soll durch Öffentlichkeits- und Lobbyarbeit ein gesellschaftliches Bewusstsein für die Probleme geschaffen werden.

KARO e.V. ist Träger der Beratungsstellen in Cheb (Tschechische Republik) sowie in Plauen (Deutschland).
