Helphealth Philippines is an umbrella organization of HelpHealth Foundation USA which is not fully registrated yet. The man behind the beginning of this group in the Philippines is Mr. Horst Heveling and his wife, Flora.
The Philippines, a country composed of more than 7,000 islands, is home to so many breathtaking views, diverse wildlife, and beautiful people. To some, it is a paradise in Southeast Asia. And like many countries in the tropics, it boasts a wide array of tourist attractions, historical sites, and poignant examples of the phrase “You can’t have everything in life.” And indeed, as much as it is a haven for tourists (local and foreign alike) looking for the perfect vacation in its welcoming beaches, this paradise is also plagued by numerous social and cultural problems.
Unfortunately, in a country where at least 40% of the population lies below the poverty line, these crises are often overlooked. The education and health sectors, for example, are two of the most vital yet also the most neglected.
Health insurance is unheard of in the Philippines. An average family ends up in so much debt trying to get a sick child the needed medical attention. Give that dilemma to a poor family in the remote areas of the Philippines and you have the perfect scenario for “poverty” in the truest sense of the word. They are the ones who badly need medical assistance and yet they are the same people who are lucky enough if they get to see a doctor once a year.
Schools run by the government are for free. The uniforms and school supplies? Not so. Thousands of children face this problem in the rural areas where a pen and a paper never come in handy. Many kids are forced to stay out of school as their parents literally do not have the money to get their kids a bag and a set of school supplies.
These are the challenges faced by the residents of Baco and San Teodoro. They need your help in getting quality medical help and education. Anything is better than nothing. Any little help will make a difference.
