The mission of the ABURY Foundation is to enable as many people in development regions as possible to earn their living with their traditional knowledge and skills in their traditional surroundings. The second mission is to preserve traditional crafts and values.
So the simple idea is educate men and women in their traditional craft to make them mastercraftsmen - then offer them a fair-paid job so that they can earn the money. The ABURY Foundation on top gets 50% of the profits of the ABURY Collection who sells the products - this is a kind of profit share with the community.
The ABURY Foundation supports building of schools, teachers (professional and educational), building of wells, libraries for children, etc.
For 2013 our main goal is the finishing of the well and the education of more women in embroidery and in reading and writing!
