Ashoka - Ein internationales Netzwerk für soziale Innovation.
Ashoka ist die erste und größte Organisation zur Förderung von Social Entrepreneurs – sie sucht und fördert weltweit systematisch talentierte Social Entrepreneurs mit innovativen, bahnbrechenden Ideen zur Lösung gesellschaftlicher Probleme. Deswegen versteht sich Ashoka auch als ein globales Netzwerk für soziale Innovation.

Ashoka ist gemeinnützig, überparteilich und überkonfessionell. Die Organisation wurde 1980 gegründet, der erste Social Entrepreneur wurde in Indien ausgewählt. Inzwischen ist Ashoka in rund 70 Ländern tätig und hat mehr als 2000 Social Entrepreneurs – bekannt als Ashoka Fellows – unterstützt. Der Sitz der weltweiten Organisation ist bei Washington, die deutsche Tochtergesellschaft wurde 2003 gegründet und begann 2005 mit der Auswahl von Social Entrepreneurs in Deutschland. Die Ashoka Deutschland gGmbH hat ihren Sitz in Frankfurt am Main und München.
