The shortfilm `Drexciya´ is a science-fiction-story talking about a positive utopia of the "suffering" African continent. Africa, rich and secure, comes with the most advanced technology and self-made progress.
At the same time Europe is poor, and a huge migration starts towards Africa. The African borders are closed via light-energy fences, Europe is abandoned to its fate. Those Europeans that make it across the ocean perish in the desert or ...
The story could talk about the future or manifest another possible reality.
`Drexciya´ is a project of Simon Rittmeier and utopia_afrika e.V. with the vision to show another "Africa" in the way of turning around the actual position and relation of the African and European Continent.
The film was mainly realized in the North of Burkina Faso with the participation of a big group of film-professionals in Burkina and 6 Germans.The other shooting took place in the Netherlands and Wolfsburg (Germany), where we shoot the scenes for the european refugee boat and the the futuristic sites.
All the participating members, expect the burkinian people, have been working volontarily, spending a lot of time for the vision of the film.
The film didn´t got a lot of fincance, so we still need some interested supporters.
